Overview

Mount Everest (8,848.86 meters / 29,031.7 feet), the highest peak in the world, stands on the border between Nepal and Tibet (China). Climbing Everest is considered one of the greatest achievements in mountaineering. It requires not only physical fitness and technical skill but also careful acclimatization, high-altitude experience, and strong mental resilience.

The expedition typically takes 60–70 days, allowing for proper acclimatization and summit window planning. Most climbers choose the South (Nepal) route due to better logistics, infrastructure, and support.

Key Highlights:

  • Duration: 60–70 days

  • Route: South Side (Nepal)

  • Highest Point: 8,848.86 m / 29,031.7 ft

  • Base Camp Altitude: 5,364 m / 17,598 ft

  • Climbing Season: Spring (April–May)

  • Difficulty: Extreme — requires technical skills, high-altitude experience, and excellent fitness

  • Permit & Costs: High government fees and expedition costs (typically $35,000–$70,000+ per climber)

Typical Itinerary Structure (South Side):

  • Kathmandu Arrival & Preparation (3–5 days): Briefing, gear checks, permits

  • Trek to Everest Base Camp (10–12 days): Trek through the Khumbu region via Namche, Tengboche, and Gorak Shep

  • Acclimatization and Rotation Climbs (20–30 days): Climbing to Camps I, II, and III before returning to Base Camp

  • Summit Push (5–7 days): Move through Camp I (6,000m), Camp II (6,400m), Camp III (7,200m), Camp IV (7,950m)

  • Summit Day: Climb from Camp IV to the summit and return

  • Descent to Base Camp and Return to Kathmandu
